Mrs. Smyk

Hello!
Welcome to Beulah Park School and welcome to Kindergarten.  My name is Kristin Smyk and I am excited to be your child's  teacher.  We are going to have a wonderful year and I am excited to get to know each and every child.

I grew up in Glenview, Illinois and after college I moved to Wadsworth and Gurnee, Illinois.   I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education.  I've taught Early Childhood Special Eduacation for 6 1/2 years until I received my Masters in Curriculum of Instruction from National Louis University and I began teaching Kindergarten for the last 19 years.   I currently live in Kenosha, Wisconsin with my husband, Kevin and my two children, Kelsey and Cole. I keep very busy participating in their weekly softball, baseball, band, Cub Scouts, and school events but I love every minute of it!

Your child will have homework every Wednesday and their weekly reading logs are checked daily.  Reading logs are due on Fridays. Every child is expected to read at least 15 minutes a day in order to achieve their reading goals.   Students who achieve their monthly reading goals will earn a FREE PIZZA from Pizza Hut once a month.  In order to succeed, you must read!

Please remember to check and empty out your child's folder every night.  An empty folder is a happy folder.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to an exciting year filled with learning.
Thank you!

How was my day?

We used a clip system in our classroom.  Your child has a calendar that is kept in their daily folders that tracks their daily behavior.  Please look at it and initial each day as your child earns a pride paw.
